Floyd County Commission Approves Entice Rezoning

Despite some initial controversy and confusion, Entice Couples’ Boutique and its surrounding 8 acres were successfully rezoned by the Floyd County Commission on Tuesday.
Unlike what many believed--including some neighbors-- the New Calhoun Highway store’s rezoning from Heavy Commercial to Community Commercial had little to nothing to do with the proposed Outskirts at 53 Music Festival, says Charles Craton of High 5 Investments.
“We originally thought the property would require a special use permit which would in turn require a zoning change, which is why we requested the zoning change. But, it’s really a moot point because the county determined that wasn’t necessary,” Craton says. “The reason I was in-favor of this is because currently the property as it exists is a retail store, and it’s in HC zoning, which means that if that building ever burns down or if something ever happened, I would not be able to build that building back.”
Though his eventual plans do include a large music venue for Northwest Georgia, Craton claims the expansive land surrounding the couples’ boutique will not necessarily be home to it.
This October’s three-day music festival and bike rally will be a trial, he says, to see how receptive Floyd and the surrounding counties would be.
