No one was miraculously hurt Friday afternoon when a van with two small children inside crashed into a large boulder on Old Rockmart Rd.
According to Floyd County Police Officer Josh Harkins, a Chevy Uplander inexplicably veered off of the roadway near Old Preacher’s Smith Rd. around 3:15pm, travelling down a 20ft embankment and hitting what Harkins called a “very, very large boulder.”
Though the vehicle was severely damaged, the driver and the two children, age four and six, we’re thankfully uninjured.
Traffic was backed up on Old Rockmart Rd. for nearly an hour as crews worked to clean-up the scene. The driver, who was in-route to Pepperell Middle School, was not charged in the accident.
