The Gordon County Sherriff’s Office have arrested nine people in conjunction with a major drug bust that occurred at a convenience store Wednesday night.

Following a three month-long investigation, Gordon County detectives and deputy sheriffs executed search and arrest warrants at the Food Mart located off US 41 in Calhoun at 8:30pm.  The officers alongside a K9 unit conducted a thorough search of the store, which revealed packaged synthetic marijuana and over a quarter pound of methamphetamine. Detectives also collected a large sum of money, as the convenience store is also alleged to have commercially gambled with cash pay-offs on electronic gaming machines.

The Sherriff’s Office Major Crimes unit began their initial investigation in July, after allegations that the Food Mart was distributing illicit and illegal drugs came to light. Detectives worked around the clock gathering evidence, conducting surveillance and undercover work. Sherriff Mitch Ralston is confident his team has developed a strong case against the individuals arrested.

With the exception of one, the persons arrested are all from Calhoun. All nine face Racketeering and Methamphetamine possession charges, among other more serious felonies.
