Lyerly man killed in Alabama wreck

A 22-year old Lyerly, Georgia man injured in a one-vehicle accident Friday morning near Watsons Crossroads has died.

According to the Alabama State Patrol, 22-year old Christopher Allen of Lyerly, Georgia was ejected from his 1996 Dodge pickup truck during the crash on County Road 41 past 91.

After several attempts by medical personnel to arrange for a helicopter that patient was instead, taken by ambulance to a Rome hospital for treatment.

Helicopters were unavailable, each citing weather conditions specifically the thick fog shrouding the area.

There were no passengers in the pickup.

Allen reportedly died Saturday from the injuries sustained in the mishap.
