With the influx of visitors and locals alike expected to flood the streets of downtown Rome leading up to Thursday’s NAIA Championship, businesses have been making arrangements to welcome the visiting guests in town for the game.

Downtown merchants and restaurant owners have been planning in advance for the expected increase in business this week. Jay Shell, owner of two downtown restaurants says he and several other owners are planning a host of activities for people visiting downtown...

“We’re treating every night this week like a Friday and Saturday,” said Jay Shell, owner of 333 on Broad and Brewhouse Music and Grill, both downtown eating establishments. “I’m curious to see what the Thursday night thing will do for us, but I still think it’s going to be a real great week for everybody.”

The big game features Morningside College taking on Marian University for the NAIA crown. Kickoff will be at 6:30 Thursday evening at Barron Stadium.
