Officers of the newly formed Polk County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant Wednesday night on a residence in Cedartown, netting five individuals believed to be involved in methamphetamine distribution.

According to Cedartown Assistant Police Chief James Newsome, the task force executed the warrant on 247 Canal Street in Cedartown late Wednesday where police seized drug related materials and stolen goods.

He says Michael H. Bailey, Michaela Dawn Bailey, Charles Keith Shaw, Faith Janea Patterson, and James Jeffery Couch all face similar charges of methamphetamine possession, drug related objects, and a host of other offenses.

“The unit recovered a stolen motorcycle and a stolen nail gun as well as a number of items that were unknown whether or not they were stolen,” said Newsome.

Newsome says the arrests are the result of a several month long investigation by the new drug task force, which he says has not been officially formed by local governmental resolution as of yet.

“In the short term, the units already working together and doing a fine job. The synthetic marijuana bust in Rockmart last week was as a result of this team.”

The task force consists of officers from Cedartown, Rockmart, and Polk County Police Departments, as well as the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
