Despite holding the highest paid athlete in America hitless in two at-bats last night, the Rome Braves ultimately fell 4-2 to the Charleston RiverDogs as their mostly unsuccessful road trip draws to a close.

Dropping to an unsightly 4-9 since the All-Star Break in mid-June, Rome managed just two runs despite nine total hits en route to the loss. New York Yankees star third baseman Alex Rodriguez began his rehab assignment Tuesday evening for Charleston and was held hitless, grounding into a double-play and striking out in a pair of at-bats.

Recent promotions for South-Atlantic League All-Stars Josh Elander and Levi Hyams have exacerbated the offensive struggles for Rome in the last two weeks as the club searches for greater productivity from a lineup suddenly lacking power.

Rome wraps up their seven game road trip this evening against Charleston with first pitch between the Braves and RiverDogs set for 6:35 pm.
