Heavy showers and thunderstorms are moving over our area tonight, bringing with them the very real threat of flooding and downed trees.
The National Weather Service is calling for 40MPH winds and frequent lightening alongside an inch of rain to fall on Northwest Georgia. This could be dangerous mix for trees, as our soil is saturated with a weeks’ worth of rain, it won’t take much to down a tree.
Flash flooding is also a threat, as several local rivers are already pushing flood stage. Water on roadways could wreak havoc on morning commuters.
A Flood Warning remains in-effect for the Coosa River at Plant Hammond until further notice.
A Flash Flood watch is in-effect until midnight.
