Over $13,000 was raised at Buddy Bagley’s Ride to Benefit Cancer Navigators last weekend.
For three years, the 65-mile bike ride through Adairsville has been to honor Buddy’s cancer-stricken wife Darlene while also raising money for the local nonprofit. Unfortunately, Darlene passed away in April, but the ride continued---this time in her memory.
Buddy handed over the check to Cancer Navigators on Friday.
“Darlene’s doctor, Dr.Kahn, came down and got his picture made with us,” Buddy says. “It was a thrill to me to be able to hand them that check and know that in some little way that I could help somebody that has that dreaded disease. That is why I do it. I’ve seen so many suffer with it. And, if I can do one little thing to make life a little bit easier for just one of those people, than it’s all worth it.”
Though over a $1,000 more than last year’s amount, Buddy says he will never be satisfied with the sum until cancer can no longer strike anyone’s’ loved ones.
Cancer Navigators serves patients dealing with the disease in Floyd, Polk, Gordon and several other Northwest Georgia counties.
