After what certainly felt like a short summer, bleary-eyed students will once again be trudging through Rome City School’s doors tomorrow.
Teachers and administrators have been hard at work since Tuesday, prepping for the Friday influx of students. And, Superintendent Dr. Jeff Bearden says the busy first-day atmosphere will take a few weeks to wear off.
“First week or two is really, really busy trying to get everyone acclimated, get all our schedules organized----but it will fall into a routine very quickly. Typically, it takes about a week or two and it’ll be like we never left,” Bearden says. “We’re really excited to have our students return. We’re looking forward to an outstanding 2013-2014 school year. One of the things I always say everywhere I’ve ever worked, is that to have the best school system possible, the home, school and community needs to work together. I really appreciate the fact that that happens here in Rome City Schools.”
Floyd County Schools are back in class on Monday. Summer is over for the Gordon County schools on Tuesday, with Bartow County following on Wednesday.
