After suffering losses last weekend several Northwest Georgia football programs were able to bounce back and get wins in Week Two of the high school season last night.
Leading the redemption tour was Rome who went on the road to Paulding County and defeated Hiram 35-13 following their surprising loss to South Paulding last week. Rome is back home at Barron Stadium Friday against 2-0 Allatoona in what promises to be one of the more high profile games of Week 3.
Rockmart broke hearts in Floyd County Friday night with a win over Coosa by the final score of 27-24 in overtime. Coosa led most of the night but allowed Rockmart back in the game in the 4th quarter. The win evened Rockmart’s record at 1-1.
Adairsville rallied from losing their season opener to crush Armuchee 38-7 Friday.
Elsewhere the two most highly ranked teams in the area won their home openers as Cartersville downed rival Cass 47-7 at Weinman Stadium and Calhoun beat Dalton 17-2.
Mt. Pisgah Christian defeated Model 29-10.
Finally, things weren’t pretty for the Dragons in Lindale as Cedartown, led by tailback Nick Chubb, defeated Pepperell 33-6. Pepperell is now 0-2 while the Bulldogs are 2-0.
