With the installation of the new dock on the downtown Riverfront, you can certainly expect to see the Roman Holiday more often.
The 45-passenger excursion boat will alternate docking at the downtown pier with its standard ports at both Heritage and Ridgeferry Parks.
Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau spokesman Luke Chaffin says he’s excited for the vessel’s increased visibility and for what it could mean for it and the city’s future.
“I see things like the addition of the town green dock as certainly  a catalyst to get us in the direction of using the Roman Holiday for taking people just down the river---you don’t have to necessarily go on a two-hour tour. I could certainly see that being a project in the near future to use it more as a taxi or ferry from our stops at Ridgeferry Park or Heritage Park.
Officials hope the Riverfront and Town Green will be open to the public sometime in November.
The Roman Holiday’s will take to the river just one more time before it closes up shop for the year.
The cruise will be Sunday, October 6th. Call the Rome-Floyd Visitor Center for details at 706-295-5576
