Cartersville Police arrested a local woman Sunday on a slew of felony drug charges stemming from the discovery of meth and Xanax pills inside the trunk of a car.
Records show Katherine Elizabeth Denton, age 23, was booked into the Bartow County Jail about 5:30 pm Sunday after an investigation police claim yielded the discovery of nearly 40 grams of meth as well as syringes, a digital scale, marijuana and about two dozen tablets of suspected Alprazolam, the generic name for Xanax.
The various drugs were found in bags, a latex glove and also inside an empty Monster energy drink can which allegedly contained a hidden compartment full of pills and crystal meth. Police claim at first Denton denied the drugs belonged to her but later admitted they were hers. She also agreed to a urine test which came back positive for meth and marijuana.
Denton faces a total of eight drug charges including two counts of possession of schedule IV drugs with intent to distribute and one count of possession of meth with intent to distribute.
