One person has been confirmed dead from a large house fire in Kingston over the weekend.

According to an official with the Bartow County Fire Department, the call came in about the blaze just before 4:30 am Sunday morning. The home, located at 505 Hall Station Road in Kingston, was said to be fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene.

Fire fighters later discovered a single victim inside the home. Crews remained to battle the flames until nearly 2 pm Sunday afternoon.

According to Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton, the identity of the deceased is still not 100% known due to the badly burned condition of the body. Guyton says the remains have been sent to the State Crime Lab to undergo DNA testing for positive identification, a process which could take up to 18 months to complete. The Crime Lab will also determine the exact cause of death.

The home is a total loss. The Bartow County Fire Marshal’s office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire which is also a mystery at this time.

It is not known if anyone else lived at the residence, but a Fire Department spokesman said no one else was injured and no other property was damaged as a result of the blaze.
