Northern Bartow County was the site of a fatal crash late Monday night on Interstate-75.
Coroner Joel Guyton has confirmed that one person was killed in a single vehicle crash on I-75 which occurred at about 10 pm between mile markers 300 and 301, approximately 6 miles South of Adairsville.
According to the Georgia State Patrol the deceased has been identified as Ritchie Ford, age 60, of Chamblee in DeKalb County. A statement from GSP to WRGA Tuesday indicates Ford was killed after his vehicle struck a tree.
Guyton says the victim was alone in his box-style truck when it appears he may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the truck to crash.
Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, and according to Guyton, had expired from his injuries before help could arrive.
