Flood Warning Issued for Coosa River

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Flood Warning for the Coosa River near Rome Mayo Bar Lock and Dam. 
A little before 10am this morning, the river was measured at 23.9 feet and rising. Flood stage is considered 24 feet, which officials expect it will reach by noon and crest at 24.5 feet sometime tonight. Minor flooding is in the forecast for the surrounding woodlands, fields and pastures along the river upstream and downstream from the gage on the Old Lock and Dam behind the Trading Post.  The Boat Ramp will also likely be underwater at the Lock and Dam Park. 
A Flood Warning does continue for the Oostanaula River near Resaca and Calhoun until further notice. At 8am Saturday, the river was measured at 24.9 feet and steady. According to the weather service, this crest compares to a previous crest of 25.7 feet which was reached on January 9th, 2009.
