City police have confirmed that Friday evening’s gunshot victim is in stable condition following emergency surgery at Floyd Medical Center.
According to Rome City Police, Joseph McCluskey, who is reportedly in his mid-40s, was found Friday night around 7:30 lying in the parking lot of Hi-Tech Fuels on North Avenue. Authorities say that McCluksey was on foot in the area of North Broad St when he was shot in the abdomen and made his way to the gas station for help. An employee at the food-mart called 911 when a customer alerted them to McCluskey’s presence.
As the victim was in a great deal of pain, officers were unable to question him Friday and Saturday. As of right now, city police maintain there are no leads.
A middle-aged man is battling for his life at Floyd Medical Center after he was found lying in a gas station parking lot with a gunshot wound Friday evening.
Though many circumstances surrounding the case are still unknown, Rome City Police say the unidentified man had been on foot in the area of North Broad St when he was shot in the abdomen around 7:30pm. He apparently made it to the parking lot of Hi-Tech Fuels on North Avenue before lying down. A customer found him, and rushed inside to the gas station attendant who then called the police.
A responding officer said that the man was alert and conscious when the man was carted by ambulance to Floyd Medical Center. According to that officer, the man was rushed immediately into surgery and all leads, including suspects, rest with him.
His name is currently being withheld by police.
