UPDATE 11 AM TUESDAY: Polk County Coroner Trey Litesey says the man who died as a result of injuries suffered during the Monday storm is James Larry Agan, age 65, of Rome. Agan was driving on Old Highway 100 between Cedartown and Cave Spring when a tree fell on his truck. His son was also inside the vehicle but received only minor injuries. Agan had to be removed from the wreckage by Polk County and Cave Spring firefighters.
Monday's storm system that swept through Northwest Georgia has claimed the life of a Polk County man.
According to Polk E.M.A. Director Randy Lacey the victim was in his car when a tree fell and went through his windshield, striking him in the chest. The man died during surgery at a local hospital.
The identity of the victim has not been made public at this time as police speak with the next of kin.
