An off-duty juvenile corrections officer has been arrested by Polk County Sherriff’s Deputies for reportedly selling Marijuana.
According to a press release from the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Craig Banks, a juvenile corrections officer in Marietta, has been charged with the felony sale of marijuana following his Thursday afternoon arrest. Polk Narcotic Investigators told the department’s office of internal affairs that Banks was at the center of a two-year sting operation for the reported distribution of Marijuana.
DJJ Commissioner Avery Niles says he has called for Banks’ immediate suspension. He was employed at Marietta Regional Youth Detention Center in Cobb County. The press release does state that internal affairs conducted an investigation into the contraband cases at the facility where Bank’s worked, and found no evidence that he participated at all in smuggling in any illegal substances.
Banks is being held at the Polk County Jail.
