A second suspect believed to be involved in the December 2012 murder of a Cartersville man turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.
According to a prepared statement from Cartersville Police, 17-year-old Richard Clayton Flowers was wanted on warrants charging him with felony murder and armed robbery in-connection to the homicide of Randall “RJ” Statler at a local car wash.
Brettney Anwarr Moore of Cartersville, who was the first suspect in the case, was arrested on May 8th is facing similar charges. Police spokesman Captain Mark Camp says the two men did not know the victim,
“From everything that the investigators have been able to determine, this was simply a crime of opprrunity,” Camp says. “The suspects decided they needed some money and, unfortunately, the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
On December 16th, the body of 28-year-old RJ Statler was found at Sun-Glo Car Wash in Cartersville. Police say he was shot one time and all evidence pointed to them to a robbery gone wrong.
