Berry College Sues Tennessee Agency

May 15, 2013 -- 3:22am

Berry College has filed a federal lawsuit against Tennessee’s higher education commission, after they incurred some exorbitant fees for a billboard across the state-line.
The private college claims that the agency is demanding some $20,000 a year to advertise in Tennessee, saying that they will sue if Berry doesn’t register in the state and pay up.
This is meant to squash competition from out-of-state colleges, Berry alleges, and that other schools have pulled their own ads over the hassle.
The billboard in question displays two students with the phrase “26,000 acres of opportunity.”
