The July 4th holiday was for the most part a complete washout, canceling most of the planned activities for Independence Day celebrations.
The good news is that those wishing to do so will still have a chance to see fireworks this weekend. The Cave Spring fireworks show will be on Saturday evening at 9:45 p.m. at Rolater Park. The fireworks show was originally scheduled for Wednesday evening but was put off due to heavy rains.
Rains forced the Rome Braves to postpone their game and fireworks show Thursday. Officials announced that the game will be made up in a 7 inning a piece doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. Saturday. State Mutual Stadium will have fireworks shows on both Friday and Saturday night weather permitting.
The threat of rain also forced the First Friday Concert to move indoors Friday as Scott Thompson and Peachtree Station moved their performance to the Rome City Auditorium.
Rain remains in the forecast for at least the next 5 days, as the National Weather Service continues a Flash Flood Watch for much of the state. Already since Wednesday, over 2 inches of rain has fallen in the Greater Rome area.
