Victim Identified in Crash Involving Ambulance Killing One, Injuring Two Others

One person died in a wreck involving a Puckett EMS Ambulance Friday morning.
Emergency officials were dispatched to Martha Berry in front of Berry College to a wreck with injuries around 4:30 a.m.
According to Captain Chris Dehart with the Rome City Police, the ambulance was traveling southbound on Martha Berry and left the roadway and traveled around 300 yards striking two trees before coming to rest on its side.
According to Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor, the victim was identified as 55-year-old Tony Patterson of Rome.
Patterson was being transported by Puckett EMS from a Lafayette nursing home to Floyd ER for treatment.
The driver of the ambulance and the medic in the back of the vehicle were injured, but are in stable condition.
