July 17, 2017--6:05 p.m.
A two-vehicle wreck on Horseleg Creek Road and Windsor Road Monday ended up with one of the vehicle catching on fire. Luckily, there were no life-threatening injuries.
According to Floyd County Police, an Oldsmobile, driven by Benny Gladden of Rome collided with a Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Edward Womack, also of Rome.
The Oldsmobile then caught fire.
Womack and another motorist who witnessed the wreck helped Gladden out of the vehicle.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and quickly doused the flames.
Gladden was conscious and alert before being transported to the hospital.
The wreck occurred just before 3 p.m. and closed the road for a little more than an hour.
About an hour later, another wreck occurred at Calhoun Road and the bypass.
It involved a pickup, an SUV, and an Am Tran ambulance.
One person sustained what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
No one in the ambulance was hurt.
That wreck closed the eastbound lanes of the bypass at the intersection for a time.
