The Rome Historic Preservation Commission has approved a new ticket window for the DeSoto Theatre on Broad Street.
At their Wednesday meeting the HPC voted unanimously to approve a second ticket window for the theatre, designed to be identical to the current one but built on the front façade of the building.
Rome Little Theatre Executive Director and DeSoto Foundation Board member Megan Keating says the move is aimed at better customer service;
“We have 500 seats in here now. We have brand new seats, all the renovations. We’re expecting lots and lots of people but we have only one small box office window to handle all of that so we’ve been waiting and excited for our second box office window to handle the crowds so people won’t have to wait as long.”
The HPC also approved three other cases Wednesday, all within the “Between the Rivers” district, including work being done by Pro Performance. The company is attempting to install transom windows on the front façade of their Broad Street building and install a new HVAC system with an extended platform in the rear of the business.
Properties at 313 and 304 East Fourth Avenue had their respective cases approved as well. Both owners are demolishing part of their homes and constructing new additions.
