WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 A.M. FRIDAY TO 7 A.M. SATURDAY

December 7, 2017, 5:04 p.m.

Includes Floyd, Bartow, Gordon, Polk counties.

WHAT: Periods of snow or rain mixed with snow. Generally 1/2 to 1 inch, mainly on grassy surfaces, with locally higher amounts possible.

WHERE: North and west of a line from LaGrange to Jonesboro to Lawrenceville to Hiawassee, in the north and central Georgia. This includes the Atlanta metro area.

WHEN: From 5 a.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow accumulations will be dependent on temperatures and precipitation intensity. Some areas could receive a quick 1/2 inch or more with any heavier bands that set up. Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing for most areas until Friday evening. A few slick spots could develop on area roadways, especially on bridges and overpasses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow…sleet…or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities…and use caution while driving.
