Man charged with theft

A 19-year old Rome man was jailed Sunday on charges of felony theft by taking and theft by taking a motor vehicle.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Wiley Brent Watson, of a Goodman Road address, took a truck axle valued at $1,500 from a location on Shorter Avenue on January 8.

He was also charged with theft of services for allegedly placing trash in the victim’s dumpster during the theft.

Watson also reportedly stole a Honda Pioneer valued at $13,000 from a location on Kingston Highway on Sunday.

In addition to the theft charges Watson is also facing a probation violation.

 

Two charged with heroin possession

Two men were arrested at a residence on Coosawattee Avenue in West Rome Sunday on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 22-year old Joshua Devin Dillard, whose address was listed as homeless, and 26-year old Chaz Ashton Huff of Rockmart Road in Silver Creek were arrested after authorities found suspected heroin and a digital scale laying on a coffee table in plain view.

The suspected heroin was not field tested due to the dangers of fentanyl, according to the report.

Dillard and Huff are charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug-related objects.

Dillard is also charged with a couple of probation violations.
