Deputies honored for assisting in special delivery

Four Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputies were honored for their efforts in helping to deliver a baby in the parking lot of the judicial center last year.
Deputy Jason Pearce was notified of a woman in distress, lying in the parking lot.
Upon his arrival, he found the woman giving birth and the baby was already on the way.
Moments later, a little boy arrived.
After clearing the baby’s airway, the baby began crying and breathing on its own.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and the mother and child were transported to Floyd Medical Center.
Assisting Deputy Pearce until emergency services arrived were Captain Dave Roberson, Lieutenant Jody House, and Deputy Dennis Noles.

A woman gives birth in the parking lot of the Floyd County Courthouse Friday morning.
Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Pearce told WRGA that a woman came inside and said there was another woman, lying in the parking lot, possibly sick.
Pearce ran outside and the baby was already on the way.
Just moments later the little boy arrived.
After clearing the baby’s airway, it began crying and breathing on its own.
Fire, rescue, and EMS arrived on the scene.
The mother and baby were transported to Floyd Medical Center.
Deputy Pearce said he was told the baby was not due until November 15.
