A 40-year old man was jailed Sunday in connection with an incident that occurred back on January 6 in which he allegedly tried to murder law enforcement officers.

According to arrest warrants, Joseph Steven Phillips attempted to strike officers with his truck as they were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Gentry Road in Kingston.

Phillips proceeded up the driveway of the residence and then turned his vehicle around and again tried to run over the officers.

Phillips is also accused of fleeing from police while speeding and driving recklessly through a construction zone.

In addition to three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, Phillips was also charged with five counts of felony obstruction of law enforcement, criminal trespass, reckless conduct, reckless driving, speeding in a work zone, and failure to maintain a lane.
