Monday, May 14, 2018- 12:24 p.m.
Floyd County Schools have been awarded over $3.2 million in a literacy grant by the State Board of Education.
This grant aims to improve foundational literacy over the next three years. Children ages birth to 5 will be one of the four age groups that will be benefited. The others will be elementary, middle and high school students.
John Parker, the Executive Director of Academics stated what this means for the community.
“$3.2 million can go a long way when you’re buying books, resource materials or intervention programs for students.”
Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods will be at Garden Lakes Elementary School on May 17 to celebrate Floyd County Schools receiving the Grant.
