Standoff ends with two in custody

SWAT was called out to a residence on Coker Drive Friday night.

According to Capt. Trixie Morgan with the Rome City Police Department, police were called out to a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of a vacant home. At the time police did not know the home was vacant.

The officer knocked on the door to make contact.

A person in the home opened the door and when they saw it was police, shut the door.

SWAT was activated and cleared the home.

Two people were taken into custody.

Several items had been taken from the home and were found in the vehicle.

Authorities were at the scene for nearly five hours.

32-year old Christopher Adam Parker of Westbury Drive and 33-year old Timothy Duane Morgan of Woods Road are both charged with 2nd-degree burglary, obstruction of officers and a probation violation.
