Man charged with theft by conversion

September 12, 2018--9:46 a.m.

A 31-year old Silver Creek man arrested last week for exploitation of the elderly is facing additional charges in a separate incident.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Joshua Ramon Mantooth accepted an advance payment of a 1999 Mitsubishi box truck, valued at $10,500, to complete property improvements at a residence on Cedartown Highway in Lindale.

The work was never completed.

Mantooth is charged with conversion of payments for real property improvements and theft by conversion in this latest case.

Last Tuesday, he was jailed for allegedly failing to complete improvements to a man’s house despite receiving $2,000 in advance for the work.

The victim in that incident was over the age of 65.
