Two accused of making false statements about community service

Two women were booked into the Floyd County Jail Wednesday on charges of false statements and writing and knowingly filing a false lien against real or personal property of a public official or employee.

According to jail records, 24-year old Kendrica Shaylonn Tate of an East Main Street address in Rome forged the signature of the manager at the facility where she was supposed to be doing community service and turned it into Rome Municipal Court on January 30.

Tate was also charged with 1st-degree forgery.

Meanwhile, 20-year old Jordan Lynn Brown of Carrollton also presented faked community service documentation on January 7.


Man charged with influencing a witness, auto theft

A 51-year old Rome man is jailed on charges of influencing a witness and theft by taking a motor vehicle.

Terry Dewayne Burgess of a Burnett Ferry Road address is also charged with failure to appear and a probation violation.

He was transferred from the Bartow County Jail to the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday to face the local charges.

No additional information concerning the arrest was available at the jail Thursday morning.
