An out of the ordinary theft from a Cedartown business last week as police continue to wonder who took a statue from downtown Cedartown.

According to police, the famous chef statue that stood outside the former Moore’s Soda Fountain restaurant during open hours was swiped from the sidewalks over night on November 2.

The current restaurant at the venue, Poppy’s Big Dawg Diner recently held their grand opening and on a rare occasion left the statue outside after hours.

Police believe the theft of the iconic statue to be some kind of prank and were hoping to find the concrete chef in someone’s yard, but so far no luck.

Considering the weight and size of the statue, at least two individuals would have to be involved and a pickup truck used for transport.

Owners reported the statue missing Saturday morning and at this point, police have no leads and are hopeful that whoever kidnapped the ceramic chef would return it.
