The Floyd County Commission appointed Commissioner Rhonda Wallace as Chair and Commissioner Scotty Hancock as Vice-Chair at their meeting Tuesday.
Wallace has been on the Commission since 2012 and will serve her first term as Chair.
“It’s an honor to serve as chair, but we have five commissioners and each commissioner has one vote. So being chair that just means you coordinate the meetings and represent the County at lots of ribbon cuttings and those types of things. I am looking forward to new businesses coming to town and growing our revenue. I just know that we are going to have a good year ahead of us, we’ve got a great team,” said Rhonda Wallace.
Both Wallace and Hancock were elected by a unanimous decision at the meeting.
Also approved at the meeting were the hiring resolutions of County Manager Jamie McCord and County Attorney Wade Hoyt.
Bill Pinson was appointed to the Board of Adjustments, while John Reiners was reappointed to the Floyd County Personnel Board for a four-year term and Dan Sweitzer was reappointed to the NWGA Region 1 EMS Council for a two-year term.
Last, but not least, the contract was approved for Darryl Bowie to take over as Human Resource Director after 30-year veteran Larry Johnson retired.
