Body recovered from Big Wills Creek Thursday Morning

The body of a man was recovered from Big Wills Creek Thursday morning.
Emergency personnel had been searching for the man since last Sunday when three people had gone fishing along the bank around 9:00 am. The woman in that group jumped into the water above a low head dam, where the water carried her over the dam, then downstream. One of the men jumped in, in an attempt to rescue her but failed to resurface; the remaining man told authorities he threw out a line – but when that didn’t work, he ran to get help.
The incident took place on Brooke Avenue in Gadsden.
The body of 39-year-old Betty Ann Moon was recovered about two hours later; however, the search for the missing man had been unsuccessful until Thursday morning.
The name of the victim has yet to be released.
