Berry student killed in Alabama wreck
January 5, 2018--5:00 p.m.
An 18-year-old Berry College student was fatally injured in a head-on-collision on the causeway between Centre and Cedar Bluff shortly before 9:00 Friday morning.
A pickup and a car collided across from the state docks sending the truck over the guardrail and down a rocky embankment; luckily, the lakebed was dry in that particular area.
One person was air-lifted to UAB and two others were transported for treatment by ground units – one to Rome and one to Gadsden. According to Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton, 18-year old William Theodore Howard of an Etowah County address was pronounced dead at the scene.
Also responding were the Cedar Bluff Police & Fire Departments, Cherokee EMS, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Centre Police Department and Alabama State Troopers.
