Closings and delays for Tuesday

School Closings:

Bartow County Schools: Closed Tuesday.  After-school activities are also canceled.

Calhoun City Schools: Closed Tuesday.  Students and parents are encouraged to visit to view snow day assignments.

Cartersville City Schools: Closed Tuesday.

Catoosa County Schools: Closed Tuesday

Chattooga County Schools: Closed Tuesday

Cherokee Charter Academy:  Closed Tuesday

Cherokee County, Alabama: Closed Tuesday

Cherokee County Schools:  Closed Tuesday.

Cobb County Schools: Closed Tuesday.

Dade County Schools: Closed Tuesday.

Dalton Public Schools: Closed Tuesday.

Darlington School:  Closed Tuesday

DeKalb County, Alabama Schools: Closed Tuesday

Floyd County Schools:  Closed Tuesday for students and staff. All after-school activities will be canceled for tomorrow as well. 

Georgia Highlands College: All campuses will be closed Tuesday

Georgia Northwestern Technical College:  All campuses will be closed Tuesday following the directive from Governor Brian Kemp that all state offices will be closed. All day and evening classes, events and activities are canceled. A decision regarding delays or closures for Wednesday will be made Tuesday afternoon.

Gilmer County Schools: Closed Tuesday.

Gordon County Schools: Closed Tuesday. Online learning assignments will be available to students through Schoology. See Gordon County Schools website for more information.

Haralson County Schools: Closed Tuesday.

Murray County Schools: Closed Tuesday.

Paulding County Schools:  Closed Tuesday.

Pickens County Schools: Closed Tuesday.

Polk County Schools:  After a review of forecasts for our area and in collaboration with Governor Brian Kemp’s decision to close state offices in 29 counties, including Polk, Polk School District will be closed Tuesday, January 29, 2019, due to the anticipated winter weather. In addition, all after-school and extra-curricular activities have been canceled.

Rome City Schools:  Closed on Tuesday, Rome City Schools will observe a “Flexible Learning Day”.  Flexible Learning Days are days that students will not report to school and will instead complete lessons or tasks at home or off-campus. During a Flexible Learning Day, students will be encouraged to work on printed materials distributed prior to the school closure or use their school-issued Chromebooks to access assignments. Teachers will provide short, grade-appropriate lessons to enrich the standards addressed in class. Assignments will not contain new material or subject matter.  All after-school activities are also canceled for Tuesday.  Parents will be notified of any further changes.

Trion City Schools: Closed Tuesday

Walker County Schools: Closed Tuesday

Other Businesses and Local Government Offices:

Coosa Valley Credit Union: All locations will delay opening until 10 am on Tuesday, in anticipation of inclement weather. Should they need to make further updates due to conditions in the morning, they will post those on their Facebook page and send additional updates.

Floyd County Administration Offices: Due to the expected overnight inclement weather, Floyd County administration offices will delay opening until 11:00 AM on Tuesday. 

Floyd County Court: All jurors will report at 12:45 PM for Floyd County Court, but jurors should call the message line before reporting for updated information. All essential personnel will report as scheduled unless they have made other arrangements with their supervisors. Any employees who will not be able to make it in at 11:00 am due to traveling difficulties or other weather-related issues will need to contact their supervisors to make other arrangements.

Harbin Clinic: All locations in Cartersville, Adairsville, Rome, Armuchee, Calhoun, Cedartown, Summerville and Acworth will open at 10 a.m.

The Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District office in Rome and county health department clinical and environmental health offices in Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk, and Walker counties will be closed Tuesday.

The GOAL, EAGLE and Rick Perkins Award Announcements and Presentations originally scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 29, at noon at the Coosa Country Club was moved to Friday, Feb.1, in the Conference Center of Building H at Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s Floyd County Campus at 1 p.m.
