Report: Man claimed he was forced to steal vehicle

A Gaylesville, Alabama man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on felony charges of theft by taking a motor vehicle and making a false report of a crime.

According to police, 28-year old James Brandon Spivey of a County Road 87 address took a vehicle from a location on Turner Road in the Armuchee area and was seen driving it.

Spivey reportedly claimed he had been kidnapped and forced to take the vehicle.

He is also charged with possession of methamphetamine, loitering or prowling, and criminal trespass.

Reports state that Spivey was caught on property on Crackerneck Road without permission and had meth, which he dropped.


Alabama fugitive arrested in Floyd County

April 9, 2019--10:40 a.m.


A Centre, Alabama man is in the Floyd County Jail charged with being a fugitive from justice.

According to jail records, 57-year old Bobby Ray Parks of a County Road 18 address has a warrant for his arrest in Cherokee County, Alabama for failure to appear in court and obstruction.

Parks was arrested Monday on Highway 411 near the state line.
