Rockmart man dies in Paulding County wreck
January 2, 2018--4:23 p.m.
There were 18 fatalities reported on Georgia roadways during the recently completed New Year’s Holiday Travel Period, one of those wrecks occurred in Paulding County and was investigated by the Cedartown Post of the Georgia State Patrol.
According to the GSP, a vehicle driven by 56-year old James A. MacArthur of Rockmart was traveling on Woodrow Kay Road, which is off Highway 113 near the Yorkville Community.
MacArthur lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole.
The wreck occurred New Year’s Day at around 4:51 p.m.
MacArthur succumbed to his injuries at around 7:14 p.m.
Deadly wrecks were also worked by the GSP Post 52 in Hartwell, Post 6 in Gainesville, Post 7 in Toccoa, Post 12 in Thomasville, and Post 26 in Thomaston.
Other agencies reporting fatalities were the Newton County Sheriff's Office, Gwinnett County Police, Chatham County PD, Atlanta PD, the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, Dougherty County Police, and Loganville Police.
DeKalb County Police worked accidents with a total of four deaths.
