"Heartbeat Bill" passes State Senate

House Bill 481, also known as the "Heartbeat Bill" has passed the Georgia State Senate.
The bill passed after four hours of debate on the Senate floor. The bill would move the deadline for a legal abortion from 20 weeks into the pregnancy, to 6 weeks. Most doctors say this is the earliest point into a pregnancy that a feal heartbeat can be detected.
Although the Bill has already passed th House, it will return for final debate, before being sent to Govenor Kemp.
Govenor Kemp has promised to sign the bill into law if it reaches his desk.
