Man charged with exploitation of the elderly and theft

A Calhoun man already in the Floyd County Jail accused of ripping off the elderly is facing additional charges.

38-year old John Franklin Krueger was arrested March 27 after police say he took $10,000 from a Rome woman to do renovations to her porch but never completed the work.

On Tuesday, authorities filed additional charges of theft by taking and exploitation of the elderly against Krueger.

According to Jail records, in these latest cases, he took $3,000 from a Rome man to do chimney repairs and $7,000 to do home improvement work at a house on West Union Road in Calhoun.

Once again, the work was never done.

Man charged with cocaine possession

A 19-year old Rome man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic accident on Turner McCall Boulevard Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records, a witness told police that she overheard Tylan Dwight McCluskey of an East 19th Street address tell someone over his cell phone “I may be going to jail.”

Police detected the odor of marijuana and called for the county K-9 unit, which alerted officers to small baggie containing 3.8 grams of crack cocaine.

McCluskey was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and improperly entering the roadway.
