Gilmer County Sheriff’s officials say additional charges could be made in connection with an alleged rape at a prom after party involving several Calhoun High School seniors.
Charges of making false statements, as well as some other underage consumption charges could be handed down as the investigation continues.
Three 18-year-olds—Fields Chapman, Avery Johnson and Andrew Haynes were booked into the Gilmer County Jail on Wednesday on charges of aggravated sexual battery and consumption of alcohol by a minor. They were later released on a $51,000 bond.
Sheriff Stacy Nicholson said anyone underage that investigators could prove consumed alcohol on the night of May 10 could be charged. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that some at the party at a Gilmer County cabin knew what was happening to the girl but did not intervene, Nicholson said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Chapman, Johnson and Haynes were athletes at Calhoun High School.
