January 2, 2018--5:00 a.m.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE/STAFF REPORTS
A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m.
Very cold wind chills expected. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
Expect wind chills to range from 5 above zero to 5 below zero for portions of north Georgia, generally along and north of a line from Carrollton to Cumming to Cleveland.
Temperatures this morning will range from the single digits in the northeast mountains and along the higher elevations in northwest Georgia...to 10 to 15 elsewhere.
Winds will be north from 5 to 10 mph.
Luckily, most school systems in our area are closed today, but students in Chattooga County do return to class this morning following Christmas break.
Due to the extreme cold temperatures forecasted, the Chattooga County Schools will have a three-hour delay on Tuesday.
Buses will pick up students three hours later than normal.
Please wear warm clothes as some rooms and hallways may be cooler than normal.
