Man arrested after assault Monday Morning in Chattooga County

A forty-two-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday morning after an alleged assault that happened earlier in the day.
Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told WZQZ News that Mark Trammell is accused of aggravated assault after an incident that happened this morning at his residence on Welcome Hill Road in Trion. Trammell is accused of firing two shots from a rifle at his wife during an altercation. Both shots missed the suspect’s wife and she was not injured.
Trammell fled from the scene after the alleged assault and the sheriff put out word that he was possibly armed with a rifle. After searching for Trammell this morning, the sheriff along with investigators and deputies apprehended the suspect at his residence on Welcome Hill Road.
Trammell was transported to the Chattooga County Jail where he will be facing charges in connection with the incident earlier this morning.
