Earlier this week, a Chattooga County Grand Jury indicted a Trion man for possession of child pornography after investigators say that they discovered over 150 sexually explicit images of children on electronic devices.
Thirty-seven-year-old Jason Leon Thomas was indicted on Monday of this week on the charges. Sheriff Mark Schrader said, “The investigation started last year from two tips received by Investigator Burrage from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence occupied by Jason Leon Thomas located on Moore Street in Trion. Pursuant to that search warrant Thomas’s cell phone was seized and submitted to a digital forensic examiner with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.”
Many of the images of children came from foreign sources, according to local investigators.
Thomas will be standing trial for possession of 152 images of child pornography, according to court records.
