The cost for a regular unleaded gallon of gas is down about three cents in Georgia, according to Triple A.

Gas is about three dollars and fifty six cents a gallon, about the same price it was a month ago. The price is still more than twenty cents higher than a year ago when the average cost of gas was three dollars and thirty three cents a gallon.

Triple A spokesman Mark Jenkins said domestic production puts a cap on oil prices and keeps gas prices affordable.

The United States surpassed Saudi Arabia and Russia to become the world’s biggest oil producer this year, according to a report from Bank of America.
