Guilty verdict in murder trial

A Cedartown man was found guilty of felony murder Thursday.

Corey Gardhigh of Cedartown was convicted in the beating death of 43-year old Paul Grady on South Central Avenue in Lindale in January of 2017.

The call first came in as a shooting.

Police learned it was not a shooting but the victim had a serious head injury as a result of the assault.

Grady died a few days after the incident.

Gardhigh was also found guilty on charges of voluntary manslaughter, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and third-degree cruelty to children.

Judge Billy Sparks will sentence him at a later date.
