AirLife announces agreement with Anthem Blue Cross

AirLife 15, based at Redmond Regional Medical Center, started 24/7 operations back in August and has already responded to over 200 requests for emergency service in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama.

On Thursday’s Hometown Headlines Radio Edition, Marcus Lindsey
Regional Business Development Manager at Air Methods - AirLife Georgia said that he has heard concerns about costs associated with the service.

He then announced a new agreement that will result in a reduction or elimination of out-of-pocket expenses for patients and their families.

“Air Methods Corporation, out parent company, has just entered in-network with Anthem Blue Cross of Georgia,” he said. “So, we will be even better able to serve our communities. Each policy would be specific, but our goal at Air Methods is to help that patient by setting them up with a successful claim with those third-party payers.”

Lindsey added it has been their goal to go in-network with all of the major insurance providers.

In addition, they have also taken other steps to address billing and insurance reimbursements.

“We have established a patient advocacy program in which with every single flight a patient is assigned an advocate, an expert in working with third-party payers such as private insurance and government payers such as Medicare and Medicaid,” he said. “They are also experts at finding assistance when patients may be eligible for other payer programs. So, they really help patients navigate through all the insurance challenges after the flight, which we know is intimidating to a lot of people.”

AirLife provides critical care transport for patients with a time-sensitive diagnosis such as heart attack or stroke, and patients with traumatic injuries from automobile accidents and other emergencies.
