Girl struck by vehicle on Highway 101

A 12-year old girl was hit by e vehicle as she was crossing Highway 101 Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m.

According to Floyd County Police, three girls were attempting to cross the highway against the light in an effort to get to the E-Z Stop.

The first girl made it across, but the 12-year old from Aragon was struck by a GMC Sierra which was traveling southbound.

The 12-year old was taken to Floyd Medical Center and was expected to be transferred to Erlanger for treatment.

Scanner traffic indicated she was conscious and alert when first responders arrived on the scene.
